2006-2012 BMW 3 Series Sub Box Forward Fire E90 E92 Sealed
The 2006 BMW 3 Series has always been a popular platform for people to fix up and a stereo is one good way to do it. The problem that I’ve run into with BMWs is that it is always difficult to get a good amount of sound into the cabin since the trunk is so well sealed off from the cabin. I designed this forward firing sub box to but up against the back of the rear seat and blow/force the sound into the cabin. The rear armrest can be unbolted and a good sized hole can be cut out. I used the factory bracing ribs as a guide and cut a “base ball home plate” shape behind the armrest. Another benefit of this design is that since the subs are only a couple inches from the seat back it not only forces the sound into the cabin but it also gives some acoustic gain from firing so close to the seat back. Plus since there is no sound firing at the trunk lid, very little, if any vibration occurs.
This is our ported design that is 2.11cuft which can accommodate 1-2 10″ subs or 1 12″ sub. This design is for maximum airspace and the depth of the box can be reduced if desired. This depth allows full access to the storage bin in the floor of the trunk and comes right to the edge of the floor storage lid. Feel free to contact me with any requests.
This is a sealed subwoofer enclosure. Sealed subwoofer enclosures have a tight and punchy bass that is more articulate and more true to the music with a more natural sound. For customers who want louder, deeper bass with the lower bass more pronounced, a ported enclosure is what you want. Because of the ported design, the bass will not be as tight and punchy, but there is typically double the bass of a sealed box with the same subs and power. If big bass is what you want, then our ported designs will be what you want.
This box is made out of 3/4″ MDF and is fully carpeted in matching carpet. The nickle plated spring loaded speaker terminals are mounted on the back of the box and the speaker wires are soldered on for a solid and reliable connection.
