2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK 2-Door Cargo Tub Sub Box
This box is for the 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK 2-Door.
One of the biggest things that I strive for with stereo systems is keeping the vehicle functional. That was our aim with this box design for the Jeep Wranglers. This fiberglass enclosure fits in the factory cargo tub in the rear of the Jeep. Then, the new cargo floor fits snugly on top of the of the box to give you back your cargo access.
The enclosure is made from fiberglass and an 3/4″ MDF top. The subs are recessed down in the top of the box to give more clearance for the subs and to keep the cargo floor as low as possible. Over all, the new cargo floor is only less than 2″ higher than the stock floor, and leaves over 1″ of clearance for the sound to come out. The floor serves two purposes. It protects the woofer, but also helps amplify the sound coming off of it. The sound firing into the floor is naturally amplifier by the small space that it fires into, so it makes it louder by itself. It works great and makes small setups sound great. One of the ones in the photos is two shallow 8s on 300w RMS and it surprised us all when we installed it!
The box is .6cuft with around 4 1/4″ of mounting depth and is great for many single 10s or one or two 8″ subs.
The plastic tray to hold the door hardware has to be trimmed off of the plastic tub on some models, this way you can keep the bolt storage tray with the new subwoofer. The locking tab that holds the factory cargo floor in place also needs to be removed on most models. It is possible to remove it without breaking it, it is tricky, but doable.
The wiring is hardwired out of the box on the passenger side and will come with a small lead out of the box so that you can attach your own preferred way of disconnecting the wiring for removal of the sub box.
This is a sealed subwoofer box. A sealed subwoofer box has a tight and punchy bass that is more articulate and more true to the music with a more natural sound. For customers who want louder deeper bass with the lower bass more pronounced. Because of the ported design, the bass will not be as tight and punchy, but there is double the bass of a sealed box with the same subs. If big bass is what you want then our ported box will be what you want.
This box is made out of 3/4″ MDF and is fully carpeted in matching carpet. The nickle plated spring loaded speaker terminals are mounted on the back of the box and the speaker wires are soldered on for a solid and reliable connection.
